Always turn off the lights when you leave a room.
Open the curtains to make the most of available natural light
Think about painting rooms in lighter colours
Choose light-coloured lampshades or ones which do not block the light
Replace your light bulbs with energy saving recommended ones -
Energy Saving Recommended bulbs work in the same way as fluorescent lights. An electric current passes through gas in a tube, making the tube's coating glow brightly. Traditional bulbs waste a lot of their energy by turning it into heat.
Replacing just one bulb with an energy saving one can reduce your lighting costs by up to £100 over the lifetime of the bulb. They also last, on average up to 12 times longer than ordinary light bulbs.
There are now many different types of bulbs and fittings available, including downlighters, candle and spotlights
Look for the Energy Saving Logo to find Recommended bulbs:-
Energy saving products use less energy and therefore have less of an environmental impact, as well as being cheaper to run.
