EcoFair
2010
Our
first
EcoFair,
held
on Saturday
22nd May
2010 was a huge success.
Over 750 people came (plus the 123 stallholders and helpers), and saw
lots of ways to be more environment-friendly and still have a good
time. The weather was a perfect, hot, sunny May day, and there was a
relaxed feeling of community. We were entertained by wonderful local
talent, and the children had a
whale of a time without buying anything or using electricity or
batteries.
You can
see a page of pictures (2.8MB)
of the event.
The
2010 EcoFair was
a fun way for all ages to find out about eco-living
and the positive choices we can all make towards enjoying a low carbon
future. We aimed to show there are lots of ways we can be
environment-friendly and have fun! (See our
aims.)
We
put on a wide
range of attractions,
including
activities for both children and adults, indoors and outdoors, a
performance space for talks, music, and stories which went on
throughout the day. There were stalls to buy sustainable goods and
services, demonstrations, information stalls and food and
drink. Lots of fun for everyone, whatever the weather. You
could
even test how economically you could drive on a driving simulator! See
the EcoFair leaflet
(PDF 710KB), poster
(PDF 242KB) and programme (PDF 52KB).
We also
ran a competition
to make a greetings card using
recycled materials. The winners were
announced at the EcoFair at 1:30pm in the Marquee Theatre.
For children under 12, there was an opportunity to get
your whole
family
into the event for
free.
The event started at 10.30am,
and entertainments, stalls and workshops continued until 4pm.
Entry
charges were: individuals 50p, families
£1
We sent
out an HTML email
to publicize the EcoFair.

We are
very grateful for the
support of South Gloucestershire Council in
putting on
the EcoFair.
