Sustainable Thornbury has several working groups and projects in progress. They meet as necessary, often about once a month, to plan and discuss. To join or contact a group please Contact Us.
Some of the current groups are:-
EcoFair. Organising a show of sustainable ideas, workshops, goods and services on Saturday 22 May 2010 at the Chantry.
Thornbury CSA. Aiming to link a local grower with local consumers to start a local market for basic foods.
Grow Your Own Food. A self-help group for gardeners.
Thornbury Community Orchard. Responsible for maintaining the community orchard in Gloucester Road Thornbury, opposite the Anchor pub.
Extra Allotments for Thornbury (EAT) campaign. Campaigning for new allotment sites for Thornbury and Alveston.
Local food. Looking at ways for consumers to have a closer relationship with local farmers through Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).
Energy Neighbourhood. A self-help group exploring our home energy use, and ways to reduce our energy bills.
Involvement with schools. Working with primary and secondary schools in the area.
